The 77th Annual Meeting of the Ohio Association of Economists and Political Scientists will take place on the campus of Heidelberg University in Tiffin, OH. Events begin Friday evening, September 15, with a panel of invited guests examining the political economy of environmental challenges and issues. Inspired by the mission of the Association, this event is open to the public and free to attend. Following this event, there will be a reception for conference attendees.

Saturday morning the conference will start off with registration and coffee at 8am. Followed by conference panels from faculty and student researchers, these panels promise a diverse perspective of topics, research methods and disciplines.

Following paper presentations Saturday morning, September 16, conference registrants will enjoy a networking lunch where they will hear a talk by Dr. Elizabeth Perry-Sizemore entitled, “Housing renewal projects and their spillover effects.” Dr. Perry-Sizemore is Professor of Economics at Randolph College and a former President of the Virginia Economics Association.

As in past years the conference will feature a wide variety of paper topics examining economic and political topics. Presenters appreciate the supportive and constructive feedback of colleagues. We enjoy the sponsorship of several regional entities for a student paper competition. Faculty are encourage to have their students submit and present appropriate work.

Call For Papers - Faculty Members

The Ohio Association for Economists and Political Scientists invites submissions of scholarly and applied research for presentation at the 2017 Annual Meeting to be held September 15 - 16 at Heidelberg University, Adams Hall, 70 Greenfield St, Tiffin, OH 44883. OAEPS attracts scholars from across the region to present and discuss research in a friendly professional environment.

The 2017 Annual Meeting includes sponsored undergraduate and graduate student paper competitions in economics and political science. Faculty sponsors are encouraged to promote these opportunities among students. Please see the information in the next section for more information about the student paper competitions.

For full consideration, faculty members should send a 200 word abstract to Diane Monaco, Program Chair (dmonaco@heidelberg.edu) no later than Friday August 11, 2017. Please indicate the discipline and subfield. (e.g. economics, history of thought or political science, political theory, public administration, criminal justice, leadership)


Call for Papers - Student Paper Presentations and the Annual OAEPS Student Paper Competition

Requirements/Rules/Fine Print/etc...

All students must submit a full length paper to present their research at the annual conference and to participate in the student paper competition by Friday August 11, 2017 to Diane Monaco, Program Chair (dmonaco@heidelberg.edu). Abstract paper submissions will not be accepted.

  • Undergraduate papers must have been written during the 2016-17 academic year.

  • Faculty-student research is not eligible for the student paper competition.

  • Co-authored undergraduate papers are welcomed.

  • To be eligible for prizes in the student paper competition authors must present their research during the Annual Meeting.

  • The 1st and 2nd place papers in each competition receive a financial reward.
